Bloat is the worst. We had 2 Great Dane boys that bloated and both had $5000 dollar surgeries to save them. Get there stomach tacked when they are young to help prevent this!! They are very playful for the first 2 years and then couch potatoes after that.Then they die at about 6.Sad short life but very fun and playful and they will protect you.RIP Riggs and Harlow.

wonderful wonderful dogs my babies were totally loyal to the point you could put food down for them when you got home from work and they would not be interested in it until you were having your dinner they just wanted to be with you because they missed you so badly.
dont worry about their short lifespan, if you have been given the gift of living with one of these angels treasure every moment you get instead of focusing on how long it is.

My Dane Titan loves to cuddle, it's just ridiculous, I got his stomach tied, if you even consider owning this animal, this is a must, it will greatly reduce the risk of bloat. Also shedding is an issue due to their massive size, also they are the #1 dog given up, please consider the costs of food, (roughly 12 cups a day in food) lots of tough toys, and sleeping. They also get very excited and can jump around, Titan actually pulled my wrist out of place at 6 months old, he never even knew and just kept running. I will say though they love children like their own and are extremely sweet.
