Thanks! You did very well, I think. Shih-Tzus are very head strong and are
rowdy when young like this one. Nice work! My Georgie is 6 years old and
gets groomed every 6 weeks. She has been through hell with some groomers,
but I immediately stop going to that shop…only after I tell them why.
When you find a good groomer, ask for her personally, and TIP HER
    WELL!!!!!!

Wow some of these comments are so rude. You guys are seriously calling this
girl a b*tch bc of the tail tug..but I have watched other shih tzu grooming
videos that were WAY more aggressive. I’ve seen everything on here from
Shih Tzus being picked up by the NECK (yep..the neck..and that’s wayyy
worse for your dog by the way than a tail pull), to groomers poking dogs in
the eye and not even noticing it! This was actually a decent video. That
and the dog was extremely hyper. If you guys want someone to go gentle on
your dogs, perform daily grooming tasks on your dogs so that they get
accustomed to being elevated and touched in every area. Otherwise, they
will be a pain in the butt like this dog is. I also don’t ever noose my
dog, and I find that he is a lot calmer that way.

Thank you so much for this video! I have a Maltese/Shih-Tzu mix and I’ve
been looking up grooming videos, and yours is the best so far. Thank you
for telling us specifically what blades to use!

Also, for the people saying she’s been rough on the dog, she’s not. You
have to be firm when grooming a dog, or you can seriously injure the dog or
yourself. Maintaining a firm yet gentle hand is a must, especially on a
    squirmy or uncooperative dog.

this is why i invested in amazing groomer clippers and groom my shih tzu
myself! always have. one took my baby girl to the groomer one time (when
she was a puppy) and the vet told me she had been sedated. never again.
four years later and my baby has a much better experience with her mommy
    that loves her.

I don’t agree she was being particularly rough with the shih tzu. If the
dog was in any pain, she wouldn’t be standing still so calmly at all. She’s
clearly a very well trained dog, but no dog would stand so quiet and still
whilst someone is hurting them. Also, notice at 5:40, the dog comes to
sniff the comb and then rubs her hand with her face. Would she show a sign
of affection to someone who was hurting her?
