These are simply great family dogs, easy to train.
My dachshund smiles!!! :)
they’re the most lovable little shits ever
Glad some people commented about back problems. That’s a glaring omission
in this video. It’s a good idea to watch their weight and also their
jumping up and down and climbing stairs as other comments mentioned.
One thing she kind of hints at is the dachshund’s personality. I think
they are very tuned in to their owners, but maybe not always in a way that
some other breeds that need a lot of attention are. We had two. The first
was sweet and loved to play fetch with a ball and he burrowed a lot under
the covers in the extra bedroom. He was mellow. The second, well he tried
to control things. He had A LOT of personality and was always rolling in
things and getting into trouble. He was independent and fiercely loyal and
protective of the family including the cat and he’d go after anything he
thought was a threat. He was an excellent dog to walk, and despite his
stubbornness, I found him trainable in some ways. He was funny and
obnoxious and he was a GREAT dog to grow up with!! He was like the rotten
kid brother I never had, (yeah, I still miss him!).
They are mislabeled hounds since their name has the German word for dog,
hund, in their name. They are actually bred from terriers, which you can
clearly see if you compare them with pictures of other terriers, and then
against other hounds
Terrible review lol I could write them better
As their name states, they are hound dogs, used for hunting companions, and
as others have stated they would not kill badgers but dig them out. I do
love the energy they have as they tend to run amok sometimes. Mine is
actually a walking/jogging companion. You show him the leash and he will
beg to be walked for at least 45 mins and always try to be in front. He
does get tender loving care as he is a rescued dog.
Your presentation was informative. However, dachshund tranlates from German
to English as badger dog not badger hound. German hund is not a hound but a
dog.
they whine, needs lots of attention, are hard to potty train and chew
everything but I love my mini doxie
I read a book by British journalist and news reporter Mark Easton called
“Britain, etc.” in which he states that when it wants to be the dachshund is
the most aggressive breed of dog,far more so than pitbulls, dobermans, etc.
Makes video about dachshunds…..fills it with clips of other kinds of dogs
:/
We have 3 of them, a standard, mini and wire-haired. They all have their
own personality and are just great. They are a small dog, yes, but they
feel they are a bigger dog. They’re smart, they want to please, but they
can be head strong and a bit difficult to house train. If you want a grand
dog that has few problems, they can’t be beat.
Just got my first (Oscar, a standard dapple) this week and I am amazed with
what they can do. They have got to be the most unique dogs on earth in
both looks and personality. They are not stupid by any means but their
brains are wired differently. I’m not sure if I am training Oscar or if he
is training me at times.
