A Berlin Township man was hospitalized after his pet Rottweiler attacked him Saturday night.
The dog reportedly “mangled” both of the man’s arms, Berlin Township Fire Chief Bob Cousino said.
The man battled with the dog for some time before finally managing to escape and lock himself in a bathroom of the home. Members of the fire department helped him climb through the bathroom window and out into the yard of the home, where they were then able to treat his injuries. Chief Cousino said the man was taken to a local hospital.
His injuries may have required surgery.
The dog was taken from the home by members of the Monroe County Animal Control In addition to the Berlin Township Fire Department, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office assisted at the scene.
