The Poodle Dog is an AKC registered dog breed. The following article reviews the breed.
Poodles of all sizes, are some of the most popular dogs in many countries, including the United Sates. It’s no surprise then, that poodle stuffed animals are equally as popular. With their curl-like plush fur and alert, friendly faces, poodle stuffed animals are a real treat for lovers of plush toys.
Poodles have had a long and varied past, descending originally from German gundogs, known as pudels, which were used to retrieve game from water. In the 1500’s Poodles were also extremely popular in Russia and France France recognized them as their national dog. In the 19th century, the appealing looks and trainibility of Poodles made them a useful addition to the entourage of French circuses. Later, they emerged from the entertainment business to become the world’s most popular pets.
Poodles are easily recognized due to their unique fur when short, it curls close to their bodies., though it can also be short and wavy. And, since their hair grows indefinitely, it must be regularly cut and groomed. There are various ‘standard’ clippings that are used when a Poodle is groomed, the most familiar being the Poodle show clip. There is also the puppy clip, continental clip, English saddle clip, and pet clip. Clipping of the Poodle dates back to the days when they were a working and sporting dog; parts of their fur was shaved so as to make swimming easier and to ensure their fur didn’t get tangled. The other parts of the Poodle that weren’t short, were left intact for warmth. In addition, Poodles that wear ribbons in their top knots on the top of their heads are believed to have worn [the ribbon] so they could be easily identified while in the water. To achieve the desired look for a Poodle, a professional dog groomer is really the only way to go when it comes to clipping a Poodle’s fur. While it may not look very complex, there is lots more involved than most realize.
Another unique feature to the Poodle breed is that unlike most other breeds of dog, Poodles don’t shed; for those that suffer from allergies, Poodles are a wonderful alternative to the dogs that do ‘lose’ their coats on a daily basis. And, of course, shedding isn’t an issue with Poodle stuffed animals, just as they will never require any kind of professional grooming. There is no denying that there are some wonderful advantages to choosing a Poodle stuffed animal over the real thing.
The three recognized sizes of a poodle are Standard, Miniature, and Toy. Toy Poodles usually weigh less than 10 pounds, Miniature Poodles are 12-25 pounds, and Standard Poodles are 40-75 pounds. Online stores offer a two foot tall black poodle (what would be considered the Standard Poodle) stuffed animal that is so lifelike, at first glance you might not know if it’s the real thing or not. For those that prefer their plush animals a little smaller, poodle stuffed animals are available in every size imaginable.
