11 – 12 years does seem a little short for poodles. My toy-mini is 12 and
jumps around like a 1 year old

Poodles are smarter than collies. Poodles understand everything. They have
selective hearing because they are so intelligent. My poodle will only
acknowledge things he likes or wants to do, if its something he doesn’t
like he still understands it but doesn’t get enthusiastic about it.

I disagree that poodles need to be groomed every few weeks, I usually go
months without scheduling an appointment for my toypoodle. However I don’t
get my poodle to be cut in those weird, fancy ways, instead she get’s cut
normally with most of her fur being the same length all over, except for
fluffy ears and puffy head and tail. I brush her very frequently and she
hardly ever shows any signs of needing to be groomed, only when her hair
get’s way too long and I worry about her being too hot do I have to take
her in! Another thing is that poodles seem to be really prone to knee cap
problems, I know mine went through a lot of pain a few years ago when her
knee cap got misplaced or something. They also have A LOT of eye goop, they
“cry” a lot to keep their eyes clean, but it leads to almost cheetah like
streaks that you’ll have to wash with a wet washcloth a lot, because it can
smell really bad. I feel like they should have mentioned the eye goop that
poodles get, since it’s WAY more than any other breed that I can think of.

I hate traditional poodle cuts, especially the poofs, if I ever get a
poodle I am getting it’s hair cut to look like a normal dog.

I have a poodle lhasa apso mix, indeed smartest dog i ever owned, i have
trained her to stay when i say so and to go home when i tell her too, i
even trained her to catch food in her mouth when i throw it, i just can’t
get her to stop chasing stray cats XD

Poodles are one of my favourite breeds. They are just a good all round dog,
they are happy to go for a run for an hour but like to cuddle up on your
lap too. They like to play but they also like down time. I think they make
excellent pets and are very affectionate, loyal dogs.
