What’s the best way to sell my Yorkshire Terrier “Yorkie” puppy before February?

Question by problemsolver101: What's the way to sell my “Yorkie” puppy before ?
He's full bred, but I don't have his papers because his father's papers were misplaced; his mother has her papers. He's 5lbs full grown, we are asking $ 850 for him because that's what we got for his sibling, he has all his shots, he's cute and loveable, but he has to go before February, so what's the best place to get rid of him if I live in the Pensacola, FL area and i'm looking for a nice family?

We got both of our Yorkies from breeders listed on puppyfind.com. Not sure if it costs anything to list or not, but might be worth checking out.

Don’t sell him….take him to a no kill shelter and allow them to place him in a good home. That way you don’t have to worry about him being abused or forgotten. And just because you ask a high price doesn’t mean the dog is getting a good home.
P.S. Have your pets spayed or neutered…be part of the solution…not the problem

You sound like a great guy, and I am sure you mean no harm, but backyard breeders such as yourself are the reason many dogs end up with health problems, or in the pound. They are more interested in the money than finding a good home for their dogs. Responsible breeders don;’t set a deadline for when they have ot get rid of their pups. They usually have buyers lined up long before their bitch is bred, but should it happen they have an extra pup that hasn’t sold yet, they will hang onto that puppy into they find the perfect, forever home for him. If you don’t find a nice family by February, what happens to the puppy? Are you just going to sell him off to the person who comes the closest to being “nice”?

Yorkies are a bit of a trend right now, so I am sure you will get $ 850 for him. That also means that you will probably have a lot of unsuitable potential buyers calling you up. Personally, i would never pay that much for a dog who is not health guarenteed, and who has no papers, and whos parents are not recognized show champions. I’m not sure what to recommend. I suppose your best bet is to continue advertizing in the papers, or whatever it is you have been doing. But please, please, please don’t set a deadline to “get rid” of your pup! Be very picky, and make sure your baby goes only to the best of homes. It would be terrible if you got rid of him fast, and he ended up in a shelter or worst. If you haven’t found a good family for him by February, would you consider turning him over to a breed rescue that has the time to search for a perfect home for him, or are you more concerned about your $ 850?

I dont think anybody will pay 5k for an adult dog esp with out proper papers. Yorkshire Terrier or not. You should ask friends and family so at least you know your dog is going to a nice home.

That’s a LOT of money for a dog without papers.

    Oh well… canis canem edit.

How’d you get that much out of his sibling? I’d suggest trying that again; I don’t know that many people willing to pay top dollar for a dog without papers.

You found some sucker to pay you $ 850 for a BYB yorkie without papers? BWAHAHAHAHA!

Good luck on finding another sucker. Especially if he’s not a cute puppy anymore.

    “…..get rid of him….” Nice.
