Look at the guide on the food packaging – you’ll see how much he should be given per meal. If you’re in any doubt, consult your vet for advice.

    • “How much should i feed my 10 pound 7 week year old German shepherd?”

Boy do YOU need to learn to PROOFREAD before you post!

    • “i have a german shepherd who as you can tell is 10 pounds and 7 week old”

Not from your question I can’t! That “year old” puts a real spanner in the works.
In addition, a “German shepherd” is a PERSON who looks after sheep. The canine breed’s real name translates as German Shepherd Dog – 3 words in the special noun, so 3 capital initials required, with GSD for short.

    • “but im not sure how much i should feed him right now im just feed him a cup but i want to know specifics”

Go look at the Diet Sheet the breeder supplied. If you were fool enough to buy from a pet shop or an ignorant BYBer, so didn’t get one, click
    http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_GSD_Source/links/Feeding__Nutrition__GDV_Bloat_001198556443/
Then click on the Diet Sheet label. My buyers get a copy of that on their pup’s pedigree.

There are NO specifics – your pup’s needs change from week to week, sometimes from day to day. YOU have to learn to “feed by eye” and make tiny adjustments for how much or how little exercise he did in the last 24 hours. As a Rule of Thumb:
    • A pooch that wanders away from the dish before emptying it is being over-fed, so reduce the amount per meal.
    • A pooch that licks the bowl long after it is polished clean is being under-fed, so increase the amount per meal.

    Looking in
    http://pets.groups.yahoo.com/group/The_GSD_Source/links/Size___Weight_001198649681/
will tell you the average weight of GSD pups at each month of age. The closer your pet is to average, the more likely that he will mature into a correct height-&-weight adult.

    Add

To discuss GSDs, join some groups such as

The people in them KNOW about GSDs. Plus you can include actual photos in your posts, unlike the clunky mechanism that stingy Y!A provides.
