Question by sam: What are of the top breeders in America?
I’m looking to purchase a top of the line large companion . Imports and or American bred . Price is not an issue, I would prefer a dog on the large size preferably. If you could list some of the best websites I would really appreciate it, thanks.

The Czech “German” Shepherd working line is not your traditional German Shepherd. Although they certainly still have the typical face and stance, they are generally smaller (with some exceptions of course) and have a wider variation in coat and color. They contrast most with the typical American show lines and the general idea of how […]

Quite frankly, I’ve never heard that one before. Sure, we all kinds of doodle and -oodle and -poo designer breeds, and I’ve even heard of some -inu and quite a few -eagle breeds as well. Though, actually they are not breeds per se, but “hybrids”. That is – until they start breeding true after a certain […]

I know several great breeders around the U.S. However I do not want to list all of their websites here on Y!A. I know these breeders personally and you never know how many trolls will have fun with that.. I would e-mail you, but you don’t allow it. I cannot be of much help besides offering you advice.

Make sure that the breeder you choose health tests – especially hips *and* elbows. This is very important in the German Shepherd breed. I too like the bigger German Shepherds – just be careful with who you choose to get one from. People who breed just for the size don’t always health test or breed healthy dogs, meaning that the dog could have a lot of problems.

ADD: I got your email sam, but because you have it set in your profile that you don’t allow people to email you I am unable to email you back. You can either set it so that I can email you back through Yahoo! Answers or you can email me with your regular email address (my email address is on my profile). I would love you refer you to a breeder.

If you want a GSD that’s going to be as healthy as it can be don’t fall for the “large lines” this line has even more health problems than a standard size GSD and a shorter life expectancy.

Honestly the best GSD are imports, American GSD aren’t that great anymore.
