About 500 people from Massachusetts and beyond are expected to pour into Quincy Saturday night for a vigil to remember Puppy Doe, a pit bull who had to be euthanized this month after being tortured, organizers said.

Baker called for new and tougher laws against animal abuse. She wants people to reach out to their elected representatives and do the same.
Quincy police have received leads in the case and are investigating, along with Norfolk County prosecutors, said district attorney’s spokesman David Traub.
