The Lowchen is a that was once a valued of the European noblemen. The name of this breed literally translates “Little Lion” in German. This Bichon type dog weighs an average 9-18 pounds, and stands from 10-13 inches tall.

Coat

The coat of the Lowchen is silky and soft. They are usually trimmed to look like a lion. Their coats are not thin and fluffy, but rather wavy with a combination of thick hair among the finer ones. This permits a flowing coat that is never frizzy. They come in all colors, brown included.

Activity

The Lowchen is highly intelligent, and can easily be trained given the proper training methods. It is important to monitor this breed as puppies. Remember, they are eager to please, so punishing them will only make them feel worse. Consistency is highly crucial for this breed.
