A publisher of dog travel guides has announced its 2013 list of the Top 200 Dog-Friendly Places in the United States. The list is broken down by state and includes at least one dog-friendly destination, activity or attraction in each.
California has more dog-friendly destinations than any other state, with more than 21 destinations on its list, according to the list published by DogFriendly.com.
While many of the destinations on the list seemed obvious choices for dog lovers, like dog parks and dog beaches, there were a few surprises. Did you know Fido is welcome at New York City’s Time Warner Center? On a haunted history tour of New Orleans? At the Flinstones Theme Park in South Dakota?
The publisher also included 18 hotels and inns on its list, some of which were chosen not just for allowing dogs, but for “amenities like doggy room service, dog activities, pet sitting and welcome baskets for dogs.”
Hotels, Inns and Resorts on DogFriendly.com’s Top 200 List:
Westward Look Resort: Tucson, Ariz.
Cypress Inn: Carmel, Calif.
Stanford Inn by the Sea and Spa: Mendocino, Calif.
Loews Coronado Bay Resort: Coronado, Calif.
