The Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen Dog Breed

The Grand dog is a dog being considered by the AKC for inclusion as a registered . The following article describes the breed.

Living in an apartment is great, but it does have some restrictions. For instance, you can never be too loud, some of your neighbors would hate it (the management would too). And if you were to have an eye for pet ownership, not all apartments would be allowed to house one. As for the ones that do accept domestic animals, many of the canine breeds that you’d probably like to own aren’t meant for the type of life you’re living. They may be too big for your space, they may demand a lot of exercise (which is hard living in that kind of area), or just prefer staying outside than the inside.

Want to know a dog that’s compatible for that kind of lifestyle? If yes, then good, I know the perfect breed. If no, I’ll just tell you anyway for the sake of those curious – it’s the Vendeen (as if the title wasn’t clue enough). Housing it in the small space you may be living in won’t be much of a problem because of its compact build of 31 to 40 pounds and height of 13 to 15 inches. Another good thing about it is that it doesn’t shed that much fur, so you won’t have to be sweeping up hair strands quite often.

Grooming it won’t be difficult either – brushing its coat will only be needed at least once a week, but you could be more frequent with that if you like, as long as you don’t stroke too hard. Bathing should only be done as needed. The definition of “needed” would depend entirely on your tolerance of bad smell and/or dirty looks. If you really want to be thorough with dog grooming, you may opt to trim the strands of hair growing under its paws from time to time. One of the most overlooked grooming needs is canine toothbrushing – a pet owner that fails to do this is risking dog health.

Bacteria in the mouth that is left behind from whatever the pooch has been eating can spread to the other organs in its body and cause the development of other canine diseases.

For the , you’re going to have to brush its teeth at least twice a week. It’s important that you use a toothbrush and toothpaste specially formulated for their kind – using human toothpaste isn’t a good idea because of the the harmful ingredients (to ) it contains. If you want this dog to be extra well-groomed, then consider getting a nail cutter designed for pooches to trim its nails.

Aside from the reasons stated above, what are the other possible motives for you to get the Petit Griffon Vendeen? Well it’s a lively and playful pet – they love human companionship, and I’m sure you’d feel the same way about them if ever you were to own one. They’re also courageous and have refined senses, which makes them great watchdogs. You’ll surely be alerted of the presence of strangers entering your apartment. Take care of the cute dog properly and you’ll be enjoying its company as long as 14 years.
