The suspect in the beating, Marcus Kordale Bush, 22, faces a felony cruelty to animals charge after his neighbor recorded him beating the 4- to 6-month old puppy on April 10 on Garth Road, an investigator said. Bush was released from jail this weekend after posting $ 5,000 bail, court records show.
Bush has been released from his duties as children’s gymnastics coach at Texas Academy of Acrobatics and Gymnastics in Baytown pending the outcome of the investigation, school officials announced Tuesday.
Meanwhile, Anuk, a pit-bull mix, is in good condition despite some bruises and stitches he suffered in the beating, said city spokeswoman Patti Jett.
“He’s been through a traumatic experience and we want to make sure that he recovered in a home setting and not a kennel,” she said. “He’s also evidence in a pending criminal case and it’s important that he also is secure and safe.”
