Note: Needs optional Extension Kit For Wall Mount!,
This would have been a semi-easy install if it was not for the lack of an extension collar that has to be ordered seperately for another $40 if you decide to mount it into a wall like I did.
The description of the product clearly states that it is suitable for a door or wall mount, so most reasonable persons would expect that the kit would work for either without having to buy an additional collar.
Well that was my Sunday project yesterday and after a trip to PetSmart and PetCo, to find out that neither of them carried this brand, I had to make my own extension collar out of a roll of Alluminum flashing and buy two threaded 1/4″ 20 24″ rods and cap nuts at Home Depot. So what started to be about a 1 hour project turned into 4 hours.
The product itself is great!, well constructed and works welll and the fit is good, I was just frustrated that I did not read anywhere in Amazon’s description that a seperate optional wall kit was required. Maybe I’m stupid and missed it, but I think that if the product comes equipped solely for the parts to install it into a door, it should not be labled as telescoping and also for wall installation. I also feel that Ideal Pet Products should give you the option to pay maybe $20 more and lable it seperately as a door mount or wall mount. All the optional kit comes with is a PVC/Plastic extension collar that fits in the wall and longer 8-9″ bolts. Really $40?
Oh Well, Live and Learn. It was a little too late to return the product after the hole was already cut through the sheetrock and siding, and without my own modification, I would have had to wait and board up the hole until I received the OPTIONAL WALL KIT!

|Fantastic Sanity Saving Dog Door!,
This pet door was the best purchase I have made for my house. The double flap keeps an air pocket between them and no air leaks through at all, definitely an energy saver! Plus the bottom end has a magnetic closure which pulls the flaps back to their perfect position every time. I also liked the removable sliding door cover that clicks to lock it in place when you want to keep your dogs indoors. This door replaced another door from another company that had a hard plastic swinging door which leaked air like crazy, blew open, and had a locking mechanism at the bottom of the door in which the dogs would catch their toenail on and lock themselves out. I am super happy with my purchase and definitely would recommend this item!
