Get the blood test. That way the vets will have an idea what type of anesthesia to use, how much, and use the least riskiest option possible. (forgive any comprehensive errors)

i’d get the blood tests done.
humans need blood tests prior to surgery to make sure they will pull through ok so its no different for animals. you don’t want to not do it and have something happen to the dog then regret the fact that you didn’t pay $ 60 for the rest of your life.

I alway have the blood tests done, if they don’t ask I ask for it. I feel safer with it.

I always worry if I don’t get the test. If you are reasonably sure that your dog is healthy enough and does not have trouble eliminating toxins from his body then don’t get the test. If you will lose sleep if anything happened because you didn’t get the test, then pay up. Do you feel lucky?

Most vets do pre anesthetic blood work to make sure that there are no significant issues with your dog in terms of blood cell counts, glucose, liver enzymes, potassium levels and such. It’s a precautionary step in making sure that your dog is 100% safe to be under anesthesia. For the test to be only $ 60 dollars, seems a little cheap. Normally pre anesthetic blood work can cost you around $ 100 to $ 120 dollars. A little bit of advice, after surgery be prepared for vomiting. Often times, because of the anesthesia dogs will actually vomit. Its nothing to be concerned about unless its bloody which 9 times out of 10 it isn’t.

    Good luck!

It depends on the age and overall health of the dog.If it’s a young dog and has no symptoms of illness, then I think you are safe in skipping the blood work.On the other hand, blood work can often catch kidney or liver disease in the earliest stages and so it might be of some benefit. If they are just offering the test, then it is totally up to you,so I would say that they are not trying to just make money.
