Question by .: If an off bites an on leash dog what are the ?
an off leash dog bit my dog while she was on the leash and i pulled her back but the other dog wasn’t on a leash so his owner was unable to stop him. I often pass this man with his dog and he never has a leash and the same thing always happens. Is there any law that can help me with this?

Contact your local animal control about local ordinances. I would say the unleashed dog is a nuisance if it cannot be controlled and is dog aggressive. The owner should be intelligent enough to see this and put a leash on it.

Ya I heard on the news that the poor guy had his wrist broken when his half of the leash got pulled down. The dog was just fine though. And the guy is obviously distraught when he realizes what’s happened. I can only imagine what’s going through the dog’s mind: “ALIEN ABDUCTION!!!”

It was actually the woman who distracted the dog. The guy obviously didn’t realise that the door would just close with the pressure of the leash. As soon as he does, he becomes shocked and does whatever he can. Then the foolish woman walks over thinking she’s a great person.

Oh no! Thats just bad. Did you see the newest video of a kids dad was joking around and put his kid in a washing machine and it locked? ALL caught on video. Kids okay though but it was a lot scarier than this.

Most places have leash laws which the man should obey. You can file a complaint with your local Animal Control and they will come out and talk to him. If it continues keep calling and maybe try to get a witness.

Yup. Are there leash laws in your area? Most state that an off lead dog must be securely contained on the property, so this guy is breaking the law. Call animal control, or your local police, and report the incident. How bad was the bite? You should probably find out if the offending dog is fully vaccinated, and make an appointment to have your dog checked out at the vet.

It all depends on your city’s ordinances. We can’t help without knowing where you live. But the odds are there is a leash law where you live. Call your local government offices and they can help out.
