Question by Brittany Bryant: Anyone know how to build to build a ramp for an overweight 15 yr old dog with a hip problem?
My mother-in-law has an elderly dog, who is also a little overweight. She was hit by a car years ago and when her hip healed it fused together or something of the sort. She now gimps and has mostly the problem of getting back up the stairs. Can anyone help her? She is an awesome dog and I don't want her to hurt or have to struggle to get back up, although its only about 5 or 6 steps on the front porch. Please and Thank you so much!

Measure from the floor to the top step and add four inches. Get plywood that size and some carpet, but cut the carpeting slightly larger than the plywood. After you secure the carpeting on the plywood with staples or adhesive, sew a lath strap at the bottom of the ramp and one at the top. Set the ramp in place so that it extends about one inch from the top step.
