For a 5 lb. Chihuahua? what style of bed? My 50 lb dog has a matress but do smaller dogs do better in the with side cushions? And is the any brand of dog bed that you would recommend?

A bed he can fit into. Without knowing what your dog prefers we can’t answer that.

It depends on what your dog prefers.

You can get a donut pillow, one with sides, etc.

Ha ha, if I ever gave that to my dog, she’d see it as a giant chew toy and rip it up in 10 minutes.

See we have a Dachshund, she does the digging into her bed thing too 🙂 And you’re right, pet-store beds have no support, even for small dogs (and don’t get me started on how bad they were for my cousin’s Rottweiler). We had to special-order our Doxie’s orthopedic bed, cost us about the same.

I’m going to attempt to make this for my kitty cat cuz she loves anything soft to sleep on. I don’t have a sewing machine nor do I have ric rac so I will minus the ric rac and use my hands lol, Will take me forever I’m sure. But I love the style. Thanks for showing how to.

    • aglanceatmyworld
    • August 21, 2012

I’m sure your cat will love it! The ric rac is just for decoration so it will still be great without it. I would love to hear how it turns out 🙂 -Whitney
