One of my dogs has a wax problem in only one ear. He does NOT get infections or inflammation, just a rapid buildup of an unusually hard yellow wax. I have tried many vets, many cleaning routines and methods, and many cleaners, but I have yet to find one that is very effective.

What is the best wax-dissolving ear cleaner for dogs (or humans)?

Some good ones that have not worked well enough for us are: Epi-Otic, Oti-Calm, Oti-Cleans, Zymox, and several all natural vinegar and plant extract concoctions.

Anyone have experience with a really good one?

The site says pug but the cleaner mentioned can be used on any breed I'm sure. But ask the vet to double check.
