Question by : How to measure my dog for a harness?
I have three dachshunds who are slightly larger than average. We want to get them some dog harnesses because they are better for their backs. We have a couple of dog sweaters that fit like this http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=7965344
The two smaller dogs are mediums and the largest is a large in these jackets. Do these sizes correspond to a dog harness? And also which is the best type of harness to buy?

No, your best bet is to take the dogs to petsmart or petco or other pet supply store and try the harnesses on the dog. this way you get a true fit and will be able to tell if your dog is going to like it or not.

sorry but that Harness is not fitting – it`s too close to the Front Legs…..that`s really uncomfortable for the dog and the harness could excoriate the dogs axillary

These Buddy Belts were strongly recommend for my Chihuahua who is in Rehab she goes 3 times per week and uses the underwater treadmill I just bought one I think they fantastic!! it does not sit anywhere near her throat like other harness do. She normally hates harness but she doesn’t even notice this one because so much less restrictive nothing around her belly or her neck I love it!!

Oh, I’m sorry. I misunderstood. No, the harness is quite loose around the legs. Bishop wears his harness all of the time and when you see him take a stride you can see how much space there is between him and the harness. Nothing is being cut off or damaged. Thanks for the concern!
