Question by вαкeneкo: How can I get my dog to stop barking if we leave the house or put on my shoes/jacket?
If I put get near the door, put on my shoes or jacket, my dog starts barking really loudly. I love my doggy but his barks get a little annoying sometimes. Is there any way to make him a little quieter?
He's a 5 year old Golden Retriever btw, we got him at about 6 months, he's being doing this ever since

get a squirt bottle and carry it with you when you about to leave and are putting your shoes on and when he barks just give him a lil squirt and say “No”, after a few times he should get the idea, Golden retrievers are very smart dogs.

After weeks of not being able to sleep, I decided to check the internet and found a lot of people that recommended “The Barking Dog CD”.

To him, you putting on your shoes and jacket means that you’re leaving the house without him… and you’ve allowed (trained) him that this is okay for the past 5 years.
You’ll need to re-train her. Put on your shoes and jacket and take her with you… even if it’s just for a walk around the block.
