Issue by Mandie: Dog muzzle?
how extended would you suggest leaving a muzzle on a puppy?
I have had grievances about my puppies barking when I am gone. I only depart them residence for a short while if I am gone to get groceries, but other than that they stay with in laws.
i've been informed if they do not cease barking, i would have to get rid of them. also i've been informed i cannot place them out on a lead in the garden!!
Very best solution:

I would not leave one on the dog, it is for coaching, when you are current. And you didn't say why you are muzzling your dog???

i recommend it to be only a few weeks
A muzzle is really only used to restrain the dog from biting during pet exams, shots or for detaining a stray that you don’t know if it’s rabid or not. It’s not meant as a form of noise control. As long as your dog isn’t doing the excessive barking during “quiet hours” (generally between 7 am and 9 pm) your neighbors can just suck it up. It’s a dog, it’s going to bark sometimes!
I would have to know the reason for muzzling the dog in the first place before answering your question.
Only for very short periods of time, and only until you have trained the dog not to do what it is you are using the muzzle for.. And never leave a dog muzzled while you aren’t there.. Muzzles don’t solve problems, they are a temporary fix for a problem that needs more work.
Usually the package says how long when you buy the muzzle. I believe it is no longer than 30 minutes, and you must supervise him the whole time. Most muzzles make it hard for the dog to open their mouths and sweat, or if they throw up they can gag.
as short as possible…. it wont hurt you dog but it should not be used for long periods of time. it prevents them from eating and drinking water. also it makes it difficult for them to pant. why do you need a muzzle anyway?
As little time as possible. If it just for cutting the nails or a doctor visit, put it on at the last minute, then take it off as soon as your done. When a dog is wearing a muzzle it can overheat quickly, since it can only cool off via panting.
i would not recomend it at all, it can just make the dog angry. but if you insist, maybe all day except at night. do this for maybe a month or so.
