i, i live in the mountains, and we got all kinds of critters mostly large wondering into my yard, i have two dogs, the first is a little pom, the true guard dog. the second is a white german shepard a coward, she is sweet and easy going but she needs a back bone i got her to be a guard dog but in the end i got a lover size lap dog. she is a little over a year and i tried many things and i am looking into a trainer any tips? can my dog be what i need?
I think dog`s weight is much important. with big weight dog can jump on man and takes him on the ground, but belgian sheperd can not.

Just a question since I really don’t know anything about this. Its obvious how police dogs do it since theres only one subject to be attacked, but is it ever possible for the dog to attack the wrong person?

@Bathoric95 If the dog has a bond with the handler and has done enough drills it is very unlikely (if it is a scenario like above – protecting the owner). I have seen dogs with little experience accidentally bite the handler during the chaos. These have been true accidents where the dog realized right away and redirected onto the correct person. It becomes more unlikely as the dogs confidence and focus on the target improves.
