  1. I had recently heard of clicker training back when my parents brought home a new puppy for their anniversary. I had trained their previous dog and was excited to do the same for the new one so I went out to petsmart to buy a clicker.

They only sold one model, this one. I was a little put off by the sticker price of $5, but decided to purchase it anyway. Training is important and while 5 dollars for an item that is made just to make a noise was a little expensive, I knew it would be worth the investment for the good of the dog after all.

Grabbing a bag of small training tidbit treats I headed home excited to start the training with the young pup. Unfortunately when I got home I was in for a surprise. While the dog liked the training treats the clicker scared him to death! I don’t mean he jumped slightly. He would literally run from the room tail tucked and whimpering. Even the temptation of the treats wouldn’t bring him back.

I thought he might just be too young, so I put the clicker away for a few months. Each time I tried the clicker over the following year met with the same result. I finally had to stop trying it. It was just too loud to use indoors with a small dog. Even though he is usually fine with other noises ( vacume cleaners, other dogs barking, squeaking toys, alarm clocks, my father’s ridiculously loud snoring) He was never able to tolerate this clicker.

Granted it would probably work great outside for agility training with large dogs. (which is why I gave it 2 stars) The very fact that it is so loud it would terrify smaller dogs is a bit ridiculous. And reading the reviews it doesn’t seem to be only this dog.

If you are considering ordering this clicker, make sure your pet isn’t scared or startled by loud noises before you order this product.

  2. The company that sells this product through Amazon really needs to get it’s act together. It took a month for me to receive it even though the estimated delivery was only 7 to 12 days. And the only reason I got it then is because I emailed them to ask where it was. They sent me a reply saying that it had just gone out yesterday…yeah, right! They also had the completely wrong name at the top of their email even though my correct name was displayed right under their response.

  3. Not enough to train my dog but for little dogs I think this could work

  4. This is an okay product. I’m not a cat trainer or anything just a pet owner. It does make a loud sound that my cat will notice. But not the right product for me.

  5. The only reason I purchased this was to get enough for free freight. It affects my dog in no way. She pays no attention to it. Would not purchase again .
